Who am I?

My name is spud and I have been a search and rescue operator for nearly 2 decades. In that time I have lead teams both intra and interstate to aid in disaster relief. I have been an emergency services team leader for 17 of those years and an emergency services trainer for 12.

In my younger years I always loved the outdoors and camping. 6 years of scouts gave me the love of survival skills and have continued learning and developing those skill to this day.

In my S.A.R career I have been on countless missing persons searches and during these covid times as more people are venturing out bush i have identified the need for people learn some basic survival skills to aid them Incase the unforseen happens.

So here I am this is me and this is why I started Survive It Southwest and the YouTube channel Survival How To so that I may pass on my knowledge in the hopes it helps someone buy themselves a bit more time while waiting for rescue.
